Selva Creativa

Centro de arte y apoyo socio-emocional para adolescente

WE

Our purpose is focused on promoting the development of socio-emotional skills through art.

The Selva Creativa art center is a non-profit organization that offers social-emotional support to adolescents through three art projects that allow us to cover diverse tastes, abilities and personalities. In each project, weekly classes are given, free of charge, to a group of adolescents selected through an interview process.

These projects are:

Oropéndola: project focused on the art of body movement through three disciplines: aerial dance, acrogimnasia and contemporary dance.
Duration: continuous.
Products: elaboration of cultural shows for the community, national presentations, with international projection.
Number of scholarships: 20.

Lapa: project focused on the visual arts, specifically drawing and painting. It is inspired by the design and construction of a typical Costa Rican cart.
Duration: 8 months.
Final product: elaboration of an artistic exhibition.
Number of scholarships: 15.

Danta: project focused on plastic arts, specifically pottery and ceramics. It is inspired by the millenary traditions of clay modeling and the elaboration of utilitarian pieces.
Duration: 8 months
Final product: elaboration of an artistic exhibition.
Number of scholarships: 15.

Currently Selva Creativa operates in the community of Nosara, Costa Rica, but the plan is that the art center can function in other communities by utilizing a converted bus that allows projects to be transferred to various communities in the country that request the service through donations.
